In the past TradeAID's work largely focused on increasing the livelihoods of the basket weavers. The INCOME project was introduced as a way to incorporate the experiences and successes made in the basket sector into the various other craft groups in the Northern region of Ghana. We now work with traditional fabric weavers, smock makers, leather workers and a craft group of women with disabilities.

Since working with the basket weavers TradeAID has organised individual community basket weavers into co-operatives and supported them with training on group dynamics, product development and diversification, weaving, dyeing and business skills.

TradeAID has created a market for their baskets internationally through partnerships with international companies such as Servv International who order up to 5,000 baskets each year.
